about

Originally performed by Waiting For Darryl. This was the final song we ever worked on together before disbanding, and one that never had a proper shot. At the time we were venturing into new territories with our song structures, progressions and grooves and this song is a perfect example. Being torn between the band and going away to college, the lyrics are kind of an existential tangent, leaving the listener with the prophetic line "this is an end."

lyrics

If I try real hard I can remember a day
when innocence was the word
but that day has long since passed
and now I am not sure of just what I heard
But I know one thing that is for sure and it's
that I have become a professional
at wasting time, both yours and mine
and I don't plan on stopping any time soon.

I've got these miracles inside of my head
but I can never get them down on paper
but still I still persist to resist
at least it's for a worthy cause
or nothing at all
So now my future lies in front of me
and it's a fork in the road
I better make up my mind, my exit is coming up soon
which way will I go?

I try, I die

And I feel we're finally getting close
we'll be home soon and you can rest your mind
who knows if we'll even get there
will you wait here with me?
If this is an end, then we'll find it tonight.

This is an end.
